Features

Everything you'd tweak by hand — done properly.

KimchiOS is a set of focused, reversible changes to Windows. Nothing is hidden and nothing is forced.

Stripped background load

Unnecessary services and scheduled tasks are removed to cut running processes and free up memory.

Gaming tuning

CPU, GPU, networking, timer resolution and input latency tuned for a snappier, more responsive feel.

Less telemetry

Telemetry and unused features are trimmed so the system stays light and quiet in the background.

You choose everything

Each change is a question you answer during install. Nothing is applied without your approval.

Safe & reversible

Your original service values are backed up before anything changes, so you can always go back.

Hardware auto-tuning

KimchiOS detects your hardware and applies sensible tuning automatically — no guesswork required.

Devices left alone

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, printing and your peripherals are kept unless you explicitly choose otherwise.

Companion tools

A ToolBox dashboard to toggle every tweak, plus a high-resolution timer tool and a sleep-state checker.

Installation

Up and running in four steps.

KimchiOS ships as a playbook for AME Wizard. Open it, answer the pages, reboot.

  1. 1

    Back up first

Create a restore point and back up anything important. It's a deep set of system changes — always keep a way back.

  2. 2

    Open with AME Wizard

Grab the KimchiOS playbook and open it with AME Wizard. It walks you through the whole process on screen.

  3. 3

    Answer each page

Choose exactly what to strip and what to keep. Advanced and risky options are clearly labelled — read them first.

  4. 4

    Reboot

When the playbook finishes, restart. Your tuned, lighter Windows is ready to go.

FAQ & limitations

Know what you're installing.

KimchiOS makes real, deep changes to Windows. Here's what that means.

What exactly is KimchiOS?

KimchiOS is a playbook for AME Wizard. It's not a Windows ISO — it's a structured set of adjustments you apply to your existing Windows 10 or 11 install: services, scheduled tasks, telemetry, and performance tuning for gaming.

Will it remove Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or printing?

No. Those devices are not touched unless you explicitly choose to. The default path keeps them working, and every removal is an option you pick yourself.

Can I undo it?

Yes. Your original service values are backed up before changes are made, and the playbook is upgradable from any state. A restore point before install is still strongly recommended.

Do I need internet during install?

Yes. Some drivers and software may be downloaded as part of the process, so the machine must be online (and plugged in if it's a laptop).

Is it risky?

It changes Windows deeply — services, registry, security mitigations and boot settings. Advanced options (removing Defender, disabling mitigations) are labelled as risky. Read every page before you answer, and use the playbook at your own risk.

How is it licensed?

The KimchiOS playbook is free for personal use. Commercial use, resale or redistribution for profit is not allowed. The source code for the bundled tools is licensed under the GNU GPL v3.0 or later.

Disclaimer. KimchiOS modifies Windows at a deep level (services, registry, security and power settings). Using it means you accept that risk.
